Practicing in Front of Mirrors
Did an early practice this morning, Friday, with B at the gym where she teaches. Morning practice is not the usual for me, but she called me last night and talked me into meeting her at her gym at 7 AM.
It felt weird not to be at the studio, especially with mirrors all over the walls. It was hard for me to focus while seeing our reflection every time I looked up or to the side. Add to that a few people coming in and out of the room to grab exercise balls or aerobics stepping platforms. A guy came in the last half hour of practice and started practicing some type of aerobic routine.
Having said all that though, it was a decent practice overall, except for backbends at the end. They were quite painful and I really felt as if my back was as hard as a plank of wood; bending was not on its agenda this morning.
The breath started out sluggish with a partially plugged nostril, but got better after the SuryaNamskaras. Nothing like breathing to make one feel better; it is truly a top form of medicine. It is very cheap too and almost always easily accessible. Gotta love this stuff. Nothing short of amazing.

Hahaha I have a funny blog a while back when I was practicing at my gym in the yoga room on my own. The mirrors are extremely distracting...here's the link if you haven't read it, you might think it's funny: http://yoginisquest.blogspot.com/2005/10/floaters-and-pretty-practice_31.html
