Vanishing Balance
Finding my balance in the standing asanas was a bit on the wobbly side in my solo practice yesterday, Tuesday, in the studio. That was especially true in Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana (Standing half-lotus bind, frwrd bend) where I kept losing my balance on bringing my straight leg back to the front to go into the C version.
It must have had something to do with my less-than-desireable focus. This was my 4th solo practice in a row, and I was missing others' energy next to me. My usual Tuesday afternoon partner, B, was tied up at work and did not show up. Therefore, I'm going to the 6:30 PM class with J tonight, despite it being just a Vinyasa class. It is usually a good class, besides being packed with sweaty and heavy-breathing students. I'm not in the mood for a solo practice today.
My jump-throughs felt really floaty last night, amazingly enough, and closing postures were beautifully enjoyable. Too bad I can't say the same about the backbends which have been quite stiff as of late. I also had to do several attempts of rolling up into Supta Konasana before it finally worked, despite the fact that this had been pretty easy lately. Nothing can be taken for granted with our bodies, I guess.
I did not spend too much time analyzing the good and the bad afterwards. I just figured that as long as I get my practice in, it's all good and I'm thankful.

I applaud you for doing four straight solo practices in a row - that takes some serious dedication.
Thanks, Tiff
It amazes me how so many Ashtangis/inis have a regular daily solo practice. Years and years of self practice...Mind blowing
I'm confused...what is the c version of ardha baddha padmotanasana?
Oops.
I meant to say Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana.
That's what happens when I blog in a rush from work.
Thanks
