Solo Studio Practice

I headed to the studio this morning and had a peaceful solo practice at 8 AM. I figured I might as well practice there rather than at home, since I was asked yesterday to open the studio for their 10 AM class.

No major highlights practice-wise, except for the fact that I practiced. being able to start Sunday with a full Primary Series practice is a highlight in and of itself, as far as I'm concerned. The feeling that I get as I approach closing is priceless. Maybe the fact that by then backbends are all done with and out of the way has something to do with that feeling of joy. I sometimes think that Urdva Danhurasanas were invented in the old days of India to torture people. Maybe they were used to teach a lesson to people who decided to mingle with folks from a lower caste.

The advanced 9 AM class yesterday, Saturday, was hard with long holds, but my hips and lower back felt quite opened, so no complaints there.

Some of the asanas in yoga are quite painful and it takes months to master it the right way.I have been doing the easy ones for a while now and they have gradually helped me a lot in the sense that my Blood pressure and my diabetes is very much in check. One should do yoga with the help of an expert who will be able to guide in the right way or else things might go wrong for you.

Solo work is always demanding because it is only yourself that can push you to do asanas.

All the best.
